Pastor Stephen Harvell has been the senior pastor of Love of Christ Church since 1991. Before coming to Delaware, he worked for the DuPont Company at a large manufacturing plant along the North Carolina coast. During that time, he earned his Master of Divinity degree and later started a church, also called Love of Christ Church, in the rural town of Bolivia. Pastor Stephen, his wife Barbara, and their three children planned on living near extended family for the rest of their lives. But God had other plans. In 1990, at the Lord’s leading, they released the church to a new pastor and relocated to Delaware, where Stephen continued to work for DuPont. One year later, the Lord instructed him to leave the DuPont Company and start another Love of Christ Church.

The first service was held in the fall of 1991 with 17 people in the Stanton area. Today over 1,400 people gather for weekend services at the Bear campus, and countless lives have been changed to the glory of God. Pastor Stephen is also the founder and overseer of Love of Christ Church India, which has 81 pastors and a congregation of over 10,000 in weekly attendance. In addition, he is a charter member of the church-planting organization, Association of Related Churches (ARC) and mentors young pastors locally and nationally. In his free time, Stephen enjoys bow hunting, traveling with his wife and spending time with their four grandchildren.
