Small Group Philosophy
Why do we have small groups?
Small groups help individuals connect and build meaningful relationships as God intended them to be. When groups gather to share His Word and life experiences, satisfying relationships are built, people grow spiritually and they walk in fellowship with God and one another.
What are small groups about?
Small groups provide fertile soil for living, loving and growing in a way that honors and serves God. When a small group of believers come together to pray for and encourage one another, friendships are established and Christ's power is released to bring salvation, healing, deliverance and restoration. In short, people experience life change!
Small groups do not exist for themselves but are meant to be an extension of God's love by reaching out to others so they can experience group life. As groups grow, new ones are are birthed, and the overall spiritual health of the church improves.
Were there small groups in the Bible?
The book of Acts records tremendous growth of the first church in Jerusalem, and small groups were a part of their DNA. Acts 5:42 tells us that people met "in the temple courts" (large worship settings) and "from house to house" (small group fellowships). Small groups were vital to the growth of the church and spiritual health of believers then, and they are equally important today.
As our church to grow larger, it must also grow smaller -- and that's where small groups come in. In fact, you will never fully experience all that Love of Christ Church as to offer until you get connected in a small group!
What types of small groups do we offer?
Small groups are your key to making connections with people who have the same interests or are dealing with similar life issues. That's why we have a variety of offerings:
Discipleship groups: topical Bible studies (i.e. faith, prayer, healing, revival), book Bible studies (i.e. Romans, Acts, Revelation) and weekend sermon discussions.
Nurture groups: young married, single, college and career, men only, women only, family, empty nest, youth, children, etc.
Task focus: evangelism, prison ministry, nursing home outreach, cleaning, church maintenance, etc.
Activity focus: sports, etc.
Training/enrichment focus: marriage, parenting, finances, sign language instruction, etc.
We believe when leaders have a passion for a specific topic or focus, they are empowered to be the best they can be. Leaders can choose their own materials (upon staff approval), or Pastor will provide discussion materials based on the previous week's sermon.
When can I join a small group?
